How to Build a Multibet (Accumulator) the Smart Way
By AfriPredictions · · 2 min read
A multibet, also called an accumulator or acca, combines several selections into a single bet. The odds multiply together, so a small stake can return a lot. The catch is simple: every selection on the slip must win.
How combined odds work
Multiply the odds of each pick. Three selections at 1.50, 1.60 and 1.80 give combined odds of 1.50 x 1.60 x 1.80 = 4.32. A KES 100 stake would return KES 432 if all three win.
Why more games means less chance
Each extra selection adds one more thing that has to go right. If every pick on your slip has a 70% chance of winning, the chance of the whole slip winning drops quickly:
| Selections | Chance all win |
|---|---|
| 2 | about 49% |
| 3 | about 34% |
| 5 | about 17% |
| 10 | about 3% |
That is why long slips pay so much and land so rarely.
Tips for a smarter slip
- Keep it short. Three to five well-chosen games give a good price without stacking the odds against you.
- Avoid very low odds. Adding a 1.05 pick barely raises the payout but still adds risk to the slip.
- Mix markets carefully. A home win, an over 1.5 and a BTTS from different matches are independent. Two picks from the same match can depend on each other.
- Check kick-off times. Make sure every game on the slip is still to be played when you place it.
- Set your stake first. Decide how much you are happy to spend before you start adding games.
